Our family hasn’t entered honey or show competitions for decades. Needless to say, last year when we entered for the first time – we didn’t know what we were doing!
Last year, we did win a number of ribbons, this year we thought we might try harder!
A lot of preparation goes into submitting entries in an Agricultural show. For our family, its an occasion to share time together, doing things we enjoy.
David and Todd, for example, love to make beeswax candles, and thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with how to make “the best” type. Todd has been dabbling in candle-making for many months, and between them, they created a number of excellent candles. Overall, the entire family was delighted with the quality of their work. These candles were made by Len, David, Todd and Nathan.
The judges at the Canberra Show were impressed and we won a number of prizes for our candles and honey, including the Champion, runner up Champion and the David Banks Trophy.
Happy Honey Days !
